The Magisterium series - The Iron Trial

Seaweed Brain

Twelve-year-old Callum Hunt has grown up knowing three rules by heart. Never trust a magician. Never pass a test a magician gives you. And never let a magician take you to the Magisterium.

Call is about to break all the rules. And when he does, his life will change in ways he can’t possibly imagine.

The Magisterium series is a five-book series of fantasy novels, one book for each year of Call’s life between twelve and seventeen, co-written with Holly Black (author of The Spiderwick Chronicles and the Modern Faerie Tale series) about Call Hunt and his adventures. The first book, The Iron Trial, will be published by Scholastic Books September 9, 2014.

The Iron Trail cover was released today and without further ado, here it is:

I have honestly got to say I really like this cover and I cannot wait to read it. It will be fun to read a story by Cassandra Clare that doesn't involve Shadowhunters. Don't get me wrong, I love the series but this will be a good break from it :) I also must now read the Spiderwick Chronicles by Holly Black before this comes out. So much reading to get done.

What's on your to-read list and will you be reading this book when it is released on September 9th. Comment below or email me at multifandom.network@gmail.com :)

The Staff of Serpais Cover Reveal Date!

James Junkers

The Staff of Serapis cover is set to be revealed this Thursday, April 3!

The Staff of Serapis (a Annabeth Chase, Sadie Kane crossover) is set to release Tuesday, April 8, as a bonus to The Mark of Athena paperback edition. The standalone e-book/audio-book is set to be released on May 20.

Here is the synopsis of The Staff of Serapis:

In this adventure, Annabeth encounters more oddities in the subway than usual, including a two-headed monster and a younger blond girl who reminds her a little of herself...
This is the story fans have asked for, in which Annabeth Chase teams up with Sadie Kane. The demigod daughter of Athena and the young magician from Brooklyn House take on a larger-than-life foe from the ancient world. Perhaps even more disturbing than the power-hungry god they encounter is the revelation that he is being controlled by someone-someone all too familiar to Sadie. The audio narration was recorded by Rick Riordan himself.
For a preview of the book: Click Here

Most likely, the publisher is doing a very similar thing to The Son of Sobek release. If you don't remember, The Son of Sobek was released as a bonus in the paperback edition of The Serpent's Shadow. When it was released later, as a standalone, we got our first preview of The House of Hades, and we were able to read the first chapter. The first chapter was then released for public viewing later in June. I would assume when The Staff of Serapis standalone is released, we will get our first look at The Blood of Olympus!

Divergent Movie Review!

James Junkers

I'm not usually one for writing movie reviews, but after seeing one like this, you have to, right? Anyways, I'd like to start off by saying the movie was fabulous! Everything I say here is just me being annoying, but in reality, the movie was great!

Naturally, being a fairly long movie (over two hours), it needed to be about ten times longer :D. Every time it got up to a point where something should have been said (should of as in it was in the book), and it wasn't, I cringed...Veronica Roth wrote every piece of dialog perfectly in Divergent, and I hated for anything to be taken out. But, movies can't be 10 hours long, so I guess it had to be done.

One thing I really wasn't too fond of was Eric...I (I'm not sure about you guys) thought Eric would be much more ruthless than he was portrayed. Yes, he was insane (*cough* Christina over the pit scene *cough*), but I think there was more to him.

I think besides that, however, all of the characters were portrayed perfectly. The actors really represented who they were supposed to be. One of which I have to point out is Jeanine Matthews - thank you to Kate Winslet for being amazing!

Anyways, that's all I have to say about that, let me know your opinions below!

I Made a Correct Prediction!

James Junkers

I was just peaking through some of my older posts, and I saw a post where I made some predictions as to what I thought The House of Hades cover was going to be. Here is a link to the post.

Keep in mind, this post was made on April 4, and the cover was officially released on May 30, almost two months later...

Anyways, here is what I said I thought it would be:
It feels good to know that for once, I was basically right...yay!

CoHF questions and some new pictures!

Seaweed Brain

Hello there fellow Shadowhunters, I have been heaps busy lately but I have just enough time today to write a new update on the Shadowhunter Universe. Firstly a very important question about death in the City of Heavenly Fire:

Hi, is everyone really gonna die in the last book of the Mortal Instruments? — deansgirl27

Everyone is not going to die in the last book of The Mortal Instruments.
I feel like there’s been a lot of character death floating around in random media lately (Homeland, Teen Wolf, various) and I have been seeing much sad. Which I totally understand because character death often sends me off to bed with a fluffy cat and an ice pack.
I have said that six people whose names we know will die in City of Heavenly Fire. (And there was a big banner that said WHO WILL SURVIVE across the teaser cover but to be fair I didn’t come up with that one!) And I can see how that would be nervewracking.
I guess what I can say is:
1) I do think all the deaths matter. None of them happen for shock value or no reason or to get across the message that death is random.
2) No ladies are fridged.
3) While some deaths might be surprising (?) — there is a big war going on so I don’t think the fact that some characters die will actually be that shocking.
4) My goal is not to destroy lives or drown anyone in a bucket of feels, just to tell an enjoyable story and create an end point that hopefully people will feel does justice to the story that came before.
5) I don’t want anyone to feel jerked around. I want things to feel earned and meaningful. I am not a fan of nihilism — which is not really an overall judgement call, just a preference. The ending is not a despairing one. I believe in hope! I really do. I hope this calms some of the more trepidatious fears.  I guess time will tell — two more months — how it all works out, but that’s the goal!

6 PEOPLE WILL DIE! Okay I know it says there is a war going on, I don't know how that happened (sorry I still haven't received my copy of City of Lost Souls), but seriously 6 people are going to die. I swear if it is either Jace or Clary or any of the cool characters I will be mad! You can kill of Sebastian, we don't like him :)

Finally, Cassandra Jean (official artist for the series) has made a little seasonal banner for the season project she was doing. The recently announced series, The Last Hours, has a Spring themed banner. Here it is:

Also if anyone missed the earlier ones I ventured deep into Cassandra Clare's blog and found them for you :)

The Mortal Instrument Fall themed:

The Infernal Devices Winter themed:

The Dark Artifices Summer themed:

So, that is all for today and just to tell people I am working on a Percy Jackson post regarding the official art. It will be interesting so stay tuned for my first Percy Jackson post. :)

Shadowhunter Tarots and other info

Seaweed Brain

Hello there Shadowhunters :)
Today I will be sharing some of the latest Shadowhunter information straight from Cassie's website. Firstly some of the latest Shadowhunter tarot cards:

More tarot cards from Cassandra Jean’s complete Shadowhunter Tarot. We’ve moved on from the Major Arcana to the minor Arcana — the suit of Blades, replacing the Swords in the original deck. This bit is sort of a rogue’s gallery since this section of the Swords suit is pretty depressing. The five of blades, representing the dangers of ambition: Axel Mortmain, the eight of swords, representing feeling trapped, usually features a blindfolded and bound woman: here’s it’s Jessamine Lovelace. The devastating Ten of Swords is Hodge Starkweather, pierced through with seraph blades. The seven of swords can indicate “someone behaving with less than ethical intentions”, so — Nate Gray.  ~Cassandra Clare ( what she said about it on tumblr)

Firstly I just wanted to appreciate how Cassandra Clare is so organised in everything she does like she hasn't even written The Last Hours and she has all the characters set out and everything all set out. I also find these cards really cool but I just wished some other authors got these done (maybe Percy Jackson or Hunger Games) I have also wanted to make these into actual cards for ages and I spent all of last night going through her tumblr and saving the cards. I was thinking to make a tutorial on how to make these so comment if you really want one. Now for a picture that Cassandra Clare shared to us in which City of Heavenly Fire and The Bane Chronicles are all published and bound up and they are sitting in her editors office.

Why, Cassie, do you do this to us? Taking pictures of the books and putting them on tumblr when the release date is AGES away. That's so mean! But if anyone is dying for a snippet from the City of Heavenly Fire then here it is:

Idris had been green and gold and russet in the autumn, when Clary had first been there. It had a stark grandeur in the winter: the mountains rose in the distance, capped white with snow, and the trees along the side of the road that led back to Alicante from the lake were stripped bare, their leafless branches making lace-like patterns against the bright sky.
Sometimes Jace would slow the horse to point out the manor houses of the richer Shadowhunter families, hidden from the road when the trees were full but revealed now. She felt his shoulders tense as they passed one that nearly melded with the forest around it: it had clearly been burned and rebuilt. Some of the stones still bore the black marks of smoke and fire. “The Blackthorn manor,” he said. “Which means that around this bend in the road is …” He paused as Wayfarer summited a small hill, and reined him in so they could look down to where the road split in two. One direction led back toward Alicante — Clary could see the demon towers in the distance — while the other curled down toward a large building of mellow golden stone, surrounded by a low wall. “ … the Herondale manor,” Jace finished.
The wind picked up; icy, it ruffled Jace’s hair. Clary had her hood up, but he was bare-headed and bare-handed, having said he hated wearing gloves when horseback riding. He liked to feel the reins in his hands. “Did you want to go and look at it?” she asked.
His breath came out in a white cloud. “I’m not sure.”

Is everyone excited for City of Heavenly Fire which come out in 65 DAYS! I haven't even read all the books I am waiting for my copy of City of Lost Souls to arrive and I have Clockwork Princess waiting for me after City of Lost Souls so I can finally finish all the currently printed books :)

Anyway Shadowhunters that is all for now and all we can do now is read the books and count down until City of Heavenly Fire :) Bye

The Maze Runner Official Trailer and Poster

Seaweed Brain (and this is his very first real post)

If you didn't catch my introduction post, I'm now going to be posting for this blog along with James. If you want to know a little about me, please click here to read the whole post.

Are there any Gladers or Runners here? (I'm sorry I don't actually know what The Maze Runner fans are called, somebody comment please) Because if there are you guys should know that the official trailer and poster was released either today or yesterday and I just saw the trailer and it is EPIC!

The poster:

The poster looks really cool and it somehow reminds me of when Percy Jackson was inside the Labyrinth in Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth and that the people running are going to meet the god Pan, but that is just silly :)

The trailer:

Actors:

  • Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf)
  •  Kaya Scodelario (Moon)
  • Will Poulter (We’re the Millers)
  • Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones
  • Aml Ameen (The Butler)

  • When I saw the trailer I was really amazed, it looks that good! I just really hope the movie is just as good because I do not want it to be a flop like some movies I have seen *cough* Percy Jackson *cough* and I really want this movie to turn out like the Hunger Games.
If you haven't read this book its alright because you have until 19th of April to read the book before the movie comes out. The book is part of a trilogy called Maze Runner trilogy. I haven't actually read these books before but I just HAVE to read them before this movie comes out. Check it out in goodreads.

Anyway thanks guys, I hope you enjoyed my first post and I hope we get some Gladers or Runners to view our blog from now on :) Stay tuned for a very special Shadowhunter Chronicles post either tomorrow or the next day. Bye :)

    New Addition!

    James Junkers

As I've said many times, I do not have enough time to post as much as I'd like. For those of you who have been here a while, you may remember when I had someone else as an author for my blog (Fiona Verde), but that didn't really work out well. Well, I decided to try it again, and without further a due would like to introduce you to Seaweed Brain!

Sometime (hopefully soon), Sea Weed Brain will be writing a post introducing himself, and his writing. This blog will now feature multiple fandoms, not just Percy Jackson!

But don't worry, I will still be here posting my Percy Jackson News for all of you!

Now, to distinguish who's post it is, you have two options. One, you can look at the bottom of the post, near the comment section where you should see this...

Or, you can look at the top of the post, where it should say who posted it (see how this post started with James Junkers). We will try to continue doing that, and should be able to correct each other if forgotten, but just remember you can always look at the bottom!

So, everyone give Sea Weed Brain a warm welcome as he formulates his first post!

And you don't like to send me an email at percyjacksonjunkers@gmail.com (because you don't want me to have your email)
You can now leave a comment, on the comment form located at the bottom of my blog! If you scroll all the way down (web version only, no mobile), you should see this:

    Possible Facebook Page?

So, I've been thinking of ways to expand my Blog, and the clear answer is social media. My Blog does not have a Twitter, nor a Facebook, and I think those two platforms are required in order to make a Blog huge.

My main problem, however, is that I will not have time to manage either of these pages as much as I'd like to; I'd be able to post here and there, but not enough to keep the page live...so here is my question...If I make a Facebook page for my Blog, would any of you guys want to be admins? Since the idea is still new, and I'm still not sure yet, I ask you to do this...

If you read my Blog and think you would consider being an admin (no commitment required), please just comment that you'd be interested on this post...you can comment anonymously, I'm just trying to get an estimate...if I do decide to create the page, there will  be a short questionnaire for any prospective admins, but do not worry about that now...

    So, please, comment!
    Thanks for Reading!

    Sally Jackson!

Again, another post for another suggestion, this one received via comment on my post Playing with Titles!. The comment was received anonymously and read,

Could you do a post on Percy's mom?

Well, as I said, I will post anything [within reason] that is suggested, so here is a post about Percy's Mom (AKA Sally Jackson)..the only problem is, the comment was very vague, and I'm not exactly sure what you want to know about her, but I'll try my best.

Talking generally, Sally is an extremely kind, understanding, and passionate women. She is one of few mortals who possesses the power to see through the mist. Percy has described her as the best person in the world, and it is clear she is a wonderful mother to him. She has not been known to speak unkindly to anyway, and she never complains. Her level of mental endurance is clear, as she put up with [Smelly] Gabe for nearly ten years, just to keep Percy safe.

Sally is described as having a sweet voice, and always smells of goodies you would find in a candy shop. She has a warm smile, and straight, long brown hair. Despite the few grey strands in her hair, she does not look old. Her eyes are sparkly blue, and it has been said that they change colors in the light. Ultimately, she is described as a very beautiful women.

Now, some fun facts about Sally include that she talks more when she is nervous (as stated in The Titan's Curse). She knows about the Greek myths, as she named her son Perseus, and knew how to avoid the Minotaur. She is the only known mother of a child of the Big Three who isn't dead.

Despite playing a supporting role in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, she has rarely been mentioned in The Heroes of Olympus series, only being mentioned during the searches for Percy. It is likely, in my opinion, that she will appear at the end of The Blood of Olympus, at least if only for Percy to tell her he is safe (as he hadn't had contact with her since he was abducted by Hera prior to The Lost Hero).

Sally Jackson was played by Catherine Keener in The Lightning Thief film.

Thanks for Reading, and please, keep leaving me your suggestions!
