What Do You Think the Title of Heroes Of Olympus Book 5 Will Be?

I can't really think of anything to talk about, so how about this:
WHAT DO YOU THINK THE TITLE OF HEROES OF OLYMPUS BOOK 5 WILL BE?
Okay, so obviously, there are SOOO many possibilities as of this point in time!  But lets go over what we currently know:

The trend seems to be having a god in the title of the book (The Son of Neptune, The Mark of Athena, The House of Hades)
Obviously this isn't definite, as they did have The Lost Hero, containing no god, so who knows?

But, since we have nothing else, lets go with the assumption that it will have a god in it.

So, the question is what god?

Again, the only way we can go about answering this is to make assumptions.

Assumption 1: It will be one of 4 gods [three of the seven demigods have already had a parent in a title (Athena, Neptune, Hades)]
The interesting thing about this is that for both Neptune and Hades, it is going the "wrong way," meaning Hazel's parent is Pluto, and Percy's parent is Poseidon.

Okay, so who are we down to now?
Hephaestus, Vulcan, Aphrodite, Venus, Ares, Mars, Zeus, Jupiter

Assumption 2: It will be a Roman god.  This is just a hunch and is just because there have been two Greeks.

Okay, so who are we down to now?
Vulcan, Venus, Mars, Jupiter

Assumption 3: It will not be Jupiter.  Now we are getting down to pure opinion.  I don't think he would name it after Jupiter because there is already so much about Jupiter.

Okay, so who are we down to now?
Vulcan, Venus, Mars

Assumption 4: It will not be Mars.  Again, this is just pure opinion; I feel that Mars played to big of a role in The Lost Hero.  Again, there is a huge chance I'm wrong.

Okay, so who are we down to now?
Vulcan, Venus

Assumption 5: It will not be Vulcan.  Hephaestus played a big role in The Battle of the Labyrinth.

Okay so who are we down to now?
Venus

Assumption 6: It will be Venus. Well this was the easiest one, she's the only one left!  Venus could also be in the title because this will be the final book!  All of the love lives have to finish!  Love=Aphrodite=Venus!

Okay, so now, before we go over some other possibilities, let's get an actual title down!

The Love of Venus
The Festival of Venus (the Romans had many festivals for Venus)
The Rose of Venus (the symbol of Venus)
The Coin of Venus (Venus was on some Roman coins)

Okay so the chances are NONE of these are correct

Also, it may not even be a god, it may be Gaea, or something of that nature.

Anyways, these are just some possibilities.  What are your ideas?  Why am I even thinking about book 5?  I have nothing else to do!

Okay, well I have to end this post with an answer...
So, I feel book 5 will be titled...
The Rose of Venus

Mistakes in the Two Series!

No matter how hard an author tries, there will still be mistakes in their books if it is a series.  These mistakes include character flaws and continuity errors.  Some of the mistakes in the books are discussed by Rick Riordan, himself, via Twitter, or his Blog, but most are not explained directly in the books.  Here I will list the mistakes I have found, and the ones I have found by reading other people's interpretations.  Please note that I may not, and probably will not, catch every mistake.  If you know of one not listed here, please feel free to email me, and I will be sure to credit you.

Red = Fixed via Blog or Twitter
Pink = Sort of fixed in the book
Blue = Never fixed

The Lightning Thief

  • It is stated that the gods move to where Western Civilization is the strongest, and that is why they are currently in the USA.  Also, many historical figures are named, such as George Washington. America did not become a world power until many years later than George Washington (almost 100).
    • Even if the gods had moved to America in the 1700's, the current location of Olympus (The Empire State Building) had not existed yet (it was completed in 1931)
      • It is mentioned in The Last Olympian, however, that there are foreign demigods, meaning that demigods aren't always born in the countries in which the gods live
  • The American cover of the novel features Percy in the Long Island Sound holding Riptide and the Minotaur's horn.  This scene never occurred in the book.
The Sea of Monsters

  • Thalia appears in Percy's dream having green eyes. However, Thalia is shown to have blue eyes when she appears further in the story.
    • This could simply be due to the fact it was a dream
  • Annabeth tells Percy she knows parts of the Great Prophecy.  However, later in the story, she mentions knowing the Great Prophecy in its entirety.
  • While saving Blackjack from the Princess Andromeda, Percy calls Blackjack a mare (female horse). However, Blackjack is male in all other appearances.
    • During a Q&A on his Twitter account, Rick Riordan stated Percy didn't know Blackjack was a male at the time
The Titan's Curse
  • Hades is not at Olympus during the Winter Solstice even though this is the one time he is allowed to, and has to attend
The Battle of the Labyrinth
  • Percy mentioned that three years ago, when he started camp, there was more than a hundred campers.  However, Percy started camp just two years ago.
  • Chiron had called a war council to meet at the sword arena before Annabeth's quest, in which all head counselors were to attend.  However, the head counselors of Demeter and Dionysus did not attend.
  • The American cover of the novel features Percy standing by Kronos' Coffin.  However, in the book he couldn't be seen there, for he was wearing Annabeth's Yankees Cap, and was invisible.
The Last Olympian
  • Silena Beauregard's hair and eye color change from that mentioned in The Demigod Files.
    • It is possible that since Silena is a daughter of Aphrodite, her appearance changes naturally.
  • It is revealed that after Zeus had tried to kill Nico and Bianca, Hades placed them in the Lotus Hotel and Casino.  However, they were placed inside when they were infants, so it is unknown how they grew to the ages they are in The Titan's Curse.
    • It is possible that they were not placed directly in the Lotus Hotel and Casino.  This fact is backed up by Bianca seeming to have some memory of living in Washington D.C. in the past.
The Lost Hero
  • While Jason is given a tour of Camp Half-Blood, he is told that new cabins were built last year.  However, The Lost Hero takes place only four months after The Last Olympian, in the same year.
  • While Jason is battling Porphyrion, he mentions being the leader of the First Legion. However, we later learn that Camp Jupiter is composed of the Twelfth Legion.
    • This could be due to the fact that he had had his memories taken from him
  • Rachel is said to be going to Clarion Ladies Academy in New Hampshire.  However, in The Last Olympian, it is stated that this school is in Connecticut
  • The American cover of the novel shows Piper still having Aphrodite's Blessing.  However, at this point in the book, it was almost fully gone.
The Son of Neptune
  • Percy yells at Hera (Juno) for taking eight months of his life from him.  However, Percy was only missing for six months (December-June)
  • Percy is being chased by Stethno and Euryale, the gorgon sisters of Medusa.  However, in The Lightning Thief, Medusa tells Percy that her sisters had faded.  Fading is the equivalent of permanently dying for immortals and monsters.
The Demigod Diaries
Leo Valdez and the Quest for Buford
  • It is mentioned that Leo has been working on the Argo II for two months. However, this story takes place less than a week after The Lost Hero.
The Mark of Athena
  • Soon after the Argo II arrives at Camp Jupiter, it is mentioned that Hylla had left earlier in the morning.  However, Hylla was present in the Senate Meeting when the Argo II arrived at camp.
  • Soon after the Argo II was forced to flee Camp Jupiter, Percy sees the sunset over a live feed of Camp Half-Blood.  However, at the time, it was only early afternoon in the summer, making it very unlikely for a sunset.
  • Hazel mentions to Leo that she hadn't had a flashback in a long time.  However, she only refrained from having a flashback for a few days at this point.
  • Alcyoneus states in The Son of Neptune, that he must rise before any of his fellow Gigantes, as he is the eldest.  However, Otis and Ephialtes have been helping Arachne capture demigods for centuries.
    • It is possible that Otis and Ephialtes never truly rose, as they had made their home under the surface of Rome.
  • When Piper and Jason are talking to Bacchus, he mentions how he had fought alongside Heracles.  However, Heracles is Hercules' Greek name, and Bacchus is Roman.
  • Percy mentions that he knew the Romans for weeks.  However, by this point, he had only known the Romans for about ten days, including the time he spent with Frank and Hazel on his quest.
  • At one point, Leo sets his clothes partially on fire when he is woken up by a large ship.  However, Leo's clothes have been immune to fire at every other point in the series.
  • Hercules warns Piper and Jason that he will kill them and their friends on the Argo II if they try to contact them.  However, later, when Piper thinks of a plan, she uses an Iris Message to contact them.
    • It is possible that Hercules just didn't notice the message.
  • Frank mentions in The Son of Neptune that the only Chinese character he knows is his family name.  However, he is able to read enough Chinese to find a location marked on a map by a Chinese tourist.
  • Percy mentions that it has been five years since he arrived at Camp Half-Blood.  However, The Mark of Athena takes place only four years after the events in The Lightning Thief.

Well, that's all I've got!  Again if you have any more, or have a problem with any of mine, please feel free to either leave a comment, or email me at percyjacksonjunkers@gmail.com!

Thanks for Reading!

Prophecies!

Sorry for the wait, and it still may continue...like I said in my last post: I will continue my regular posting schedule on January 3.

Prophecies play a key role in the story.  As you can see, to the left and to the right of this post, there is a picture of every book, followed by the prophecy it contains.  Let's take a few minutes to talk about all of them!

The Lightning Thief
You shall go west, and face the god who has turned
Percy, Annabeth, and Grover travel west to find Zeus' Master Bolt.  While searching, Percy faces Ares on the beach.  We learn that Ares allowed the bolt to be stolen, and was following orders from Kronos
You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned
Percy finds the Master Bolt, and Hades' Helm of Darkness and returns them safely
You shall be betrayed by one who calls you friend
Luke, one who Percy views as a friend, betrays Percy by revealing he was the thief and was working for Kronos
And you shall fail to save what matters most, in the end
Percy fails to save his friend, Luke, from Kronos' ways.  It also may be that Percy failed to save his mother from the Underworld in the end

The Sea of Monsters
You shall sail the iron ship with warriors of bone
Clarisse sailed the CSS Birmingham with skeleton warriors
You shall find what you seek and make it your own
Clarisse, Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson find the Golden Fleece and take it from Polyphemus
But despair for your life entombed within stone
Clarisse is trapped in Polyphemus' stone caver with no way of escape
And fail without friends, to fly home alone
Clarisse would have failed without Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Tyson, but she flew back to camp alone to get there faster

The Titan's Curse
Five shall go west to the goddess in chains
Zoe, Thalia, Grover, Bianca, and Percy (supposed to be Phoebe) go west to find Artemis (the goddess in chains)
One shall be lost in the land without rain
Bianca sacrificed herself in the desert to save everyone else against Talos (a defective prototype of Hephaestus' robot)
The bane of Olympus shows the trail
They followed the Ophiotaurus (the person who sacrificed him would have the power to destroy Olympus)
Campers and Hunters combined prevail
The only way the quest would be successful is if Campers and Hunters worked together
The Titan's curse must one withstand
The curse of holding up the sky must be taken by someone (Atlas--Luke--Annabeth--Artemis--Percy--Atlas)
And one shall perish by a parent's hand
Zoe was killed by her father, Atlas

The Battle of the Labyrinth
You shall delve in the darkness of the endless maze
Annabeth, Percy, Grover, and Tyson enter the Labyrinth to find Daedalus
The dead, the traitor, and the lost one raise
Nico raised the dead, Ethan Nakamura, the traitor, was spared, and Pan's message is raised
You shall rise or fall by the ghost king's hand
Nico decided to help Annabeth and the rest of the campers
The Child of Athena's final stand
Daedalus dies
Destroy with a hero's final breath
The Labyrinth was destroyed when Daedalus died
And lose a love to worse than death
Annabeth loses Luke to Kronos (very similar to last line of The Lightning Thief prophecy)

The Last Olympian (The Great Prophecy)
A Half-Blood of the eldest gods
Percy is the son of Poseidon (one of the eldest gods/big three)
Shall reach sixteen against all odds
Percy reaches sixteen despite the fact that he was almost killed numerous times
And see the world in endless sleep
Percy finds the entire city of Manhattan asleep from Olympus
The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap
Percy handed Luke Annabeth's knife, the knife Luke gave her when she was little
A single choice shall end his days
Percy had to decide if he should give Luke Annabeth's knife, or try to kill Luke himself
Olympus to preserve or raze
Percy's choice would result in either the destruction of Olympus or the preservation of Olympus

The Lost Hero
Child of Lightning, beware the earth
Jason, son of Jupiter, has to beware the awakening of the Earth (Gaea)
The giants' revenge the seven shall birth
The Giants rise to defeat the Olympians and cause the appearance of the seven half-bloods of the Great Prophecy (Prophecy of Seven) to begin to appear
The forge and dove shall break the cage
Leo, son of Hephaestus (the forge), and Piper, daughter of Aphrodite (the dove) work together to break the cage entrapping Hera
And death unleash through Hera's rage
Hera goes into her Divine Form and kills the monsters

The Son of Neptune
Go to Alaska
Frank, Hazel, and Percy traveled to Alaska
Find Thanatos and free him
Frank frees Thanatos by using his "life wood"
Come back by sundown of June twenty-fourth or die
The three returned to Camp Jupiter, and defend the camp from the invading forces
**This is not the actual prophecy, but is just something ordered by Mars**
The real prophecy was in the sibylline books, but was burnt.  Part of it was read by Ella and recited as:
To the north, beyond the gods, lies the legion crown
In Alaska, beyond the gods sphere of control, the Roman Eagle is frozen in ice
Falling from ice, the son of Neptune shall drown
Since the prophecy is incomplete, this part is unknown.  Some possibilities are:
As Percy believes: it refers to him drowning in Gaea's territory (earth) when he fell in the muskeg
As Frank believes: it refers to Percy drowning in Alaska after he falls off the glacier while battling the shades
As Hazel believes: it refers to Percy drowning his enemies, like he did with the shades

The Mark of Athena
Wisdom's daughter walks alone
Annabeth, daughter of Athena, must complete her quest alone
The Mark of Athena burns through Rome
The Mark of Athena (a coin) led Annabeth through Rome
Twins snuff out the angel's breath
Ephialtes and Otus kidnapped Nico, whose last name is di Angelo
Who holds the key to endless death
Nico has information about the Doors of Death (that the Underworld side is in Tartarus)
Giant's bane stands gold and pale
The Athena Parthenos statue is made of ivory and gold
Won through pain from a woven jail
Annabeth won the Athena Parthenos by defeating Arachne.  She did this by getting Arachne to weave a large finger trap in which she got stuck (a jail)

The House of Hades
Unknown

Book 5
Unknown, but is assumed to be the Prophecy of Seven:
Seven half-bloods shall answer the call
Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Piper McLean, Jason Grace, Leo Valdez, Hazel Lavensque, and Frank Zhang shall answer the call to save Olympus and defeat Gaea
To storm or fire, the world must fall
Unknown
An oath to keep with a final breath
Unknown
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death
Gaea opened the Doors of Death to allow the most evil beings in the Underworld to rise again.  Gaea's forces are protecting the Doors of Death

The Winter Solstice!

12/21 - The first day of winter; the winter solstice.

Why am I talking about this you may ask?  No, it is not because of the stupid fictional story of the world ending, it is because the winter solstice is one of the most significant days in the PJ series.

  1. THE STORY BEGAN - Percy Jackson started his entire adventure because of a lie.  A lie stating that he was the lightning thief, and he stole Zeus' bolt.  The bolt was stolen by Luke Castellan on the winter solstice
  2. PERCY REMAINED THE MAIN CHARACTER - In The Titan's Curse, the winter solstice was the deadline for the crew to save Artemis, as she was a key vote in the question of how to deal with Kronos.  Once saved, Thalia decided to join the Hunters of Artemis, furthermore making Percy the main protagonist. Thalia's 16th Birthday was the next day, and if she hadn't chosen to be 15 and 364 days forever, the Great Prophecy would have pertained to her!
  3. HERA IS SAVED - The winter solstice was the deadline to save Hera in The Lost Hero!

Anyway, happy winter solstice!  Thanks for reading!

P.S. I may not be able to post in the next couple of weeks due to the holidays; I will resume my normal schedule on January 3!

Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!

Reyna

Reyna is another character whom I feel has a key role to play in the story.  First, some fast facts about Reyna! Reyna is:
  1. a daughter of Bellona
  2. a praetor of Camp Jupiter
  3. a sister of Hylla

Okay, now you remember who Reyna is? Good!

Here is a key point in The Mark of Athena: The crew of the Argo II are attacked by the Roman Legion at Fort Sumter. While Annabeth manages to grab a map at the base, she is confronted by Reyna and her two dogs. Reyna tells Annabeth to come back to Camp Jupiter for trial, where she will be executed painfully, but her death could allow some kind of peace and would be better than the alternative. When Annabeth refuses, Reyna explains that she can no longer stop Octavian and that if Annabeth won't stand trial, Octavian will turn his attention on Camp Half-Blood instead.

My opinion is that later in the story, Reyna will face a choice: whether or not to kill Percy.  Why do I believe it's Percy, you may ask.  My reasoning is that Percy developed an interesting connection with Reyna.  They don't really like each other, but don't nearly hate each other.  Their connection was brought up mainly by their hate for Octavian.  So, what will happen if Percy is confronted by Octavian and Reyna together?  What will Reyna do?

I also feel that the same kind of scenario may happen between Jason and Reyna.  Reyna loves Jason, but knows Jason has a thing for Piper.  What would Reyna do then?

I don't really know if I like Reyna...haha.  She's a, well how do I say this... interesting character.  Well, thanks for reading!

Hazel Levesque

At times, Hazel seems to be one of the least dynamic characters of the seven.  However, there is so much about Hazel that is important, and could play a key role in the story.

  1. Hazel is a daughter of Pluto
    1. This fact pretty much explains itself, but one of the important things regarding her godly parent is that it is Pluto.  Pluto is basically Hades.  Now, what is important about Hades?
      1. Nico is also a descendant of Hades.  Nico and Hazel share a relationship.  Nico is sometimes unpredictable, but Hazel, like Bianca, should be able to keep him under control.
      2. The next book is titled, The House of Hades!  It is evident Hazel will play a key role in this story.
  2. Hazel controls/owns Arion
    1. Arion is...well how can I say this... a beast!  Arion is the fastest horse ever!
    2. Hylla, Queen of the Amazons, said that Arion could only be ridden by the strongest female warrior
  3. Hazel has an interesting love life
    1. Hazel loved Sammy
    2. Hazel now knows Sammy's grandson who looks exactly like him, Leo
    3. Hazel also may have a thing for Frank
  4. Hazel is supposed to be dead
    1. My opinion -- Hazel will be the one to close the doors of death from the inside, giving herself up, sacrificing herself for the world
Just take a minute to think about Hazel...How important do you think she is now?
