Hey there! :)

Seaweed Brain

Hello fanboys and fangirls.
My name is Seaweed Brain, actually that isn't me real name it is a pseudonym :) A couple of days ago me and James Junkers (owner of this blog) asked me to merge blogs with him and I gladly accepted. I have been reading this blog for AGES and I just love it. I have ceased writing on my old blog and have come here. I used to have a multifandom blog and I will continue writing about not only Percy Jackson but other fandoms as well. We are not changing the name/layout for the blog right now but we will be making some changes. My fandoms currently are: Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Heroes of Olympus, Kane Chronicles, Hunger Games, Shadowhunter Chronicles and Chronicles of Narnia. I will be reading more and I will get more fandoms over time but for now this is the complete list. Just so everyone knows I am a HUGE Percy Jackson fan and I literally dead until Blood of Olympus comes out. Here's more facts about me :)

  • I am thirteen (born on 30th April)
  • I live in Australia
  • I can speak 3 languages #nerd :)
  • I pretty much discovered my love for reading in 2013, I know that is so sad.
  • I read the whole Harry Potter series while waiting for House of Hades
  • My first official fandom was Harry Potter, after I saw the movies
  • When I saw the Percy Jackson movies I was really, really, really disappointed and nearly smashed my TV :)
  • I think The Hunger Games movies are amazing
  • I go to Hogwarts in the school year and Camp Half-Blood during summer
  • I have made lots of Harry Potter props, I was thinking of doing some tutorials maybe
  • I have been following of this blog for AGES! and I love it :)
  • I cannot wait for the Norse Mythology series to come out
  • I have a Goodreads account. Add me I accept you as long as we have 10 similar books
  • I still read Geronimo Stilton and Goosebumps. Not because I can't read actual novels but because they were some of the first books I read and I have loved them ever since :)
  • Viria is an amazing artist and I love all of her Percy Jackson and Harry Potter artwork

I also have a Facebook page which was originally for my old blog but when I merged blogs I kept it the same but this is the official Facebook Page for this blog from now. Also we are aiming for 5k likes ASAP (we currently have 2.4k) click here to go there :) And now for some of viria's amazing artwork:

All credit goes to viria on deviantart :)

I also just wanted to thank James Junkers for making this blog in the first place and for asking me to be an author on this blog as well :) I am looking forward to knowing the viewers of this blog and leave a comment below about what you think.

New Addition!

James Junkers

As I've said many times, I do not have enough time to post as much as I'd like. For those of you who have been here a while, you may remember when I had someone else as an author for my blog (Fiona Verde), but that didn't really work out well. Well, I decided to try it again, and without further a due would like to introduce you to Seaweed Brain!

Sometime (hopefully soon), Sea Weed Brain will be writing a post introducing himself, and his writing. This blog will now feature multiple fandoms, not just Percy Jackson!

But don't worry, I will still be here posting my Percy Jackson News for all of you!

Now, to distinguish who's post it is, you have two options. One, you can look at the bottom of the post, near the comment section where you should see this...

Or, you can look at the top of the post, where it should say who posted it (see how this post started with James Junkers). We will try to continue doing that, and should be able to correct each other if forgotten, but just remember you can always look at the bottom!

So, everyone give Sea Weed Brain a warm welcome as he formulates his first post!

New Contact Form!

While I've been making small changes to my blog (you may have noticed new fonts, new colors, etc.), I decided to add a new way for you guys to send your feedback...

If you don't like leaving comments (because you think they are too public)
And you don't like to send me an email at percyjacksonjunkers@gmail.com (because you don't want me to have your email)
You can now leave a comment, on the comment form located at the bottom of my blog! If you scroll all the way down (web version only, no mobile), you should see this:
When filling it out, keep the following in mind:
  • You do not have to leave an actual name, or any name at all
  • You can make up an email address, but I will not be able to reply to you if you do
  • No one, besides me, will see what you write
I just wanted to add a new way for you guys to get in touch with me

As I near 75,000 views, I would just like to thank each and every one of you for reading my blog, and especially thank those of you who comment...your opinions are what keeps me writing! We need about 30 more views to hit that 75,000 (as of me writing this post)...if you want to see the number, just take a look at my left side bar (not available on mobile version)

Possible Facebook Page?

So, I've been thinking of ways to expand my Blog, and the clear answer is social media. My Blog does not have a Twitter, nor a Facebook, and I think those two platforms are required in order to make a Blog huge.

My main problem, however, is that I will not have time to manage either of these pages as much as I'd like to; I'd be able to post here and there, but not enough to keep the page live...so here is my question...If I make a Facebook page for my Blog, would any of you guys want to be admins? Since the idea is still new, and I'm still not sure yet, I ask you to do this...

If you read my Blog and think you would consider being an admin (no commitment required), please just comment that you'd be interested on this post...you can comment anonymously, I'm just trying to get an estimate...if I do decide to create the page, there will  be a short questionnaire for any prospective admins, but do not worry about that now...

So, please, comment!
Thanks for Reading!

Sally Jackson!

Again, another post for another suggestion, this one received via comment on my post Playing with Titles!. The comment was received anonymously and read,

Could you do a post on Percy's mom?

Well, as I said, I will post anything [within reason] that is suggested, so here is a post about Percy's Mom (AKA Sally Jackson)..the only problem is, the comment was very vague, and I'm not exactly sure what you want to know about her, but I'll try my best.

Talking generally, Sally is an extremely kind, understanding, and passionate women. She is one of few mortals who possesses the power to see through the mist. Percy has described her as the best person in the world, and it is clear she is a wonderful mother to him. She has not been known to speak unkindly to anyway, and she never complains. Her level of mental endurance is clear, as she put up with [Smelly] Gabe for nearly ten years, just to keep Percy safe.

Sally is described as having a sweet voice, and always smells of goodies you would find in a candy shop. She has a warm smile, and straight, long brown hair. Despite the few grey strands in her hair, she does not look old. Her eyes are sparkly blue, and it has been said that they change colors in the light. Ultimately, she is described as a very beautiful women.

Now, some fun facts about Sally include that she talks more when she is nervous (as stated in The Titan's Curse). She knows about the Greek myths, as she named her son Perseus, and knew how to avoid the Minotaur. She is the only known mother of a child of the Big Three who isn't dead.

Despite playing a supporting role in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, she has rarely been mentioned in The Heroes of Olympus series, only being mentioned during the searches for Percy. It is likely, in my opinion, that she will appear at the end of The Blood of Olympus, at least if only for Percy to tell her he is safe (as he hadn't had contact with her since he was abducted by Hera prior to The Lost Hero).

Sally Jackson was played by Catherine Keener in The Lightning Thief film.

Thanks for Reading, and please, keep leaving me your suggestions!

The Blood of Olympus POV's!

I recently got an email from Nidhi, one of you readers, asking me to do a post regarding POVs for The Blood of Olympus. The email came as follows:

Hey James! Can u Plz do an analysis on who will be the opening POV in
The Blood Of Olympus!!!

Well, I figured in addition to that, I'd make a post regarding everything I think will happen in regards to The Blood of Olympus POVs.

Firstly, I think it is obvious that all of the seven will have a POV. Rick did this in The House of Hades, and it would only make sense for him to do it in The Blood of Olympus. And I really like this, because, as I said before, he didn't have an order to it. In The House of Hades, the POVs weren't in any specific order, and that was great, as we got to see the action when we needed to without having to read through a meaningless POV.

Now, the real question is, will anyone else have a POV. And, as much as I hope I am wrong, I'm going to have to assume not. Seven POVs is a lot for a book, and I just don't think he can squeeze in any others..But if he gave us just a little Nico action, I wouldn't be complaining :D

Now, in regards to the actual question at hand in the email, it's difficult to assume who is going to be the opening...but we can make [educated] guesses. The real problem is, The House of Hades didn't end on a cliffhanger, in reality. The seven are traveling to Greece, and the three (Hedge, Nico, Reyna) are on their way to Camp Half-Blood. So really, anyone could be that first POV. One thing we could do is look at who had opening POV's in the other four books:

The Lost Hero: Jason
The Son of Neptune: Percy
The Mark of Athena: Annabeth
The House of Hades: Hazel

Actually, I never really noticed that before...all of the titles kind of link to who the first POV is (I wonder if that is a coincidence)..The Lost Hero could represent either Jason or Percy, and Jason gets the POV..The Son of Neptune obviously refers to Percy, and he gets the POV..The Mark of Athena refers to Annabeth and she gets the POV..and Hazel, being a daughter of Pluto/Hades gets the POV in The House of Hades.

So, I guess, one could play on that a little, and say the first POV in The Blood of Olympus will be someone who dies (one of the bloods of Olympus)..

However, I think the first POV will go to Leo..I'm not sure why, but I think he's going to be playing a major role in The Blood of Olympus (with Calypso and all), and I think he's going to start us off..I guess we'll have to wait and see (until probably when The Staff of Serapis e-book standalone comes out, as that's how we got The House of Hades preview with The Son of Sobek).

Thanks Nidhi!
