I know this is
long overdue, but for winning the contest, here is a character analysis of Thalia Grace for you, Madison R., along with anyone else who would like to enjoy this.
Name: Thalia Grace
Godly Parent: Zeus
Maternal Siblings: Jason Grace
Greek/Roman: Greek
Status: Immortal, Hunter of Artemis
Appearance: Black Hair, Blue Eyes
Actress (Sea of Monsters): Paloma Kwiatkowski & Katelyn Mager (Young Thalia)
Throughout
The Titan's Curse, it was pretty obvious Thalia would join the Hunters of Artemis, but it was still surprising. I was getting a little worried when it was getting near her 16th birthday, and it became apparent that she really may be the demigod of the Great Prophecy.
In terms of my opinion, I am pretty indifferent at times. Sometimes I like her, and sometimes I dislike her, but I rarely, if ever, love or hate her. I like her leadership, and bravery. She joined the Hunters of Artemis so the gods couldn't control her. She was done letting the fates control her life. She didn't want to be
the demigod. Although this could be seen as acts of her being a coward, it shows she thinks for herself. Luke thought the same way, but the difference is that Thalia controlled it well, while Luke didn't really weigh his options. This idea of getting away from the gods has become apparent in most of the main characters in the books, Percy, specifically saying that he understood Luke. Thalia was able to realize this on her own, without having to see it first.
Another part of Thalia that I like is what was shown in
The Lost Hero. The fact that she cared, and felt guilt for Jason's fate. This made me see Thalia in a different way - compassionate and caring. So, I guess, all in all, I do
like Thalia. But the problem is, I don't think the storyline would be destroyed if she wasn't there - if in
The Sea of Monsters, instead of the whole "Thalia's Tree," it was just the magical border failing. Nevertheless, I think Rick made a good choice in adding her.
